Stay tuned as we will be announcing our speaker lineup soon!
OVERVIEW
21st UN-Climate Change Conference’s (COP21) Paris agreement milestone to recent 26th UN-Climate Change Conference (COP26) continue to call for global action to prevent temperatures from rising above 2 degrees Celsius is crucial to reach net zero emissions by 2050. Malaysia is committed to be a carbon-neutral country in 2050 at the earliest. One of the initiatives to achieve this is through the plan of setting up a domestic emissions trading scheme and voluntary carbon market focusing on forestry and land use.
Following the recent launch of the Securities Commission’s Capital Market Masterplan 3 (CMP3), one of the strategic priorities is aimed at facilitating industries and businesses to transition to low carbon activities, which will enhance their relevance and competitiveness in the global market. Hence, it is timely for businesses to assess the exposure to climate change-related risks, plans, and be ready to embrace this push for a carbon-neutral economy.
At the SRI 2022, discussions will revolve around key catalysts advancing sustainability agenda focusing on crucial climate impact considerations, transparency and disclosures as well as the technology and ESG talent supporting the initiatives towards sustainable business and living.
