To ensure a smooth and uninterrupted learning experience, participants are advised to prepare the following minimum technical requirements before joining any SIDC online programme.

1. Device

Participants may use any of the following devices:

  • Desktop computer
  • Laptop
  • Tablet
  • Smartphone

For the best experience, we recommend using a laptop or desktop.

Important:
Participants should not use office or work-issued devices, as these may have security restrictions, blocked websites, disabled downloads or firewalls that could disrupt access to the online learning platform and webinar tools.

2. Operating System

Supported operating systems include:

  • Windows 10 or newer
  • macOS 11 (Big Sur) or newer
  • iOS 14 or newer
  • Android 10 or newer
3. Internet Connection

A stable high-speed internet connection is required:

  • Minimum speed: 5 Mbps download
  • Recommended: 10 Mbps or higher

For stability, use a wired connection or stay close to your Wi-Fi source.

4. Web Browser

Supported browsers:

  • Google Chrome (latest version)
  • Mozilla Firefox (latest version)
  • Microsoft Edge (latest version)
  • Safari (for macOS / iOS users)

Please ensure pop-up blockers are disabled to allow access to learning materials, quizzes, certificates and external links.

5. Audio & Video
  • Speakers or headphones for clear audio
  • Built-in or external microphone for interactive sessions
  • Webcam recommended for engagement and verification purposes
6. Software & Tools

Depending on the programme, participants may be required to install or use one or more of the following:

  • Zoom Client (latest version)
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Webex Meetings (latest version)
  • PDF reader such as Adobe Acrobat

Specific software requirements will be stated in the programme details.

7. Learning Environment

To optimise your learning experience:

  • Join from a quiet and comfortable location
  • Ensure good lighting for webcam sessions
  • Avoid using public Wi-Fi for security reasons

To ensure smooth access to the SIDC Learning Portal, participants are advised to check the following:

  • A valid email address must be used during programme registration.
  • Ensure that your login credentials (email and password) are entered correctly.
  • Access to the SIDC Learning Portal will only be activated after the participant’s registration and payment (if applicable) are confirmed.
  • Participants are encouraged to log in to the SIDC Learning Portal at least one day before the programme begins to verify access.
  • For security and compatibility reasons, avoid using office or work-issued devices that may restrict access to websites or system features.

If you experience any technical issues during the programme, please try the following basic troubleshooting steps:

  • Ensure your internet connection is stable and reconnect to your Wi-Fi if necessary.
  • Refresh the browser or restart the online session.
  • Clear your browser cache if pages are not loading properly.
  • Disable any VPN, proxy or firewall settings that may block access to the SIDC Learning Portal.
  • Check that all cables and connected devices (speakers, headphones, webcam) are functioning properly.
  • Adjust your device’s audio or video settings through the system controls.
