Technology Innovations Facilitating Cross-Border Business Transactions – Issues and Challenges

The increasing penetration of smartphones and digital access have created greater demand for faster, cheaper, and more transparent cross-border payment solutions. The pandemic had also accelerated the surge with global trade improvements, borderless e-commerce, cross-border B2C payments and web-centered businesses.

Ernst & Young (EY) in its report on How new entrants are redefining cross-border payments (Feb 2021) has anticipated that the payment flows for cross-border transactions to reach US$156 trillion in 2022.  This has shown that with digital innovation and the transformation of payment technology, financial institutions are forced to rethink their future business strategies to deliver safer and more efficient cross-border business transactions.

This programme provides insights across the spectrum of cross-border trading and transactions such as the technological operations/processes, different governing rules and framework, risks and challenges involved as well as the potentials it brings in broadening market access and increased efficiency.

Programme Objective

The programme will provide participants with insights into cross-border transactions development and the technology innovations facilitating the products offering as well as the potentials and challenges in gaining market access and growth in consumer demand.
