Mindfulness for Mental Health in the New Normal

No one could have predicted the global pandemic and its after-effects on our lives. Staying calm and composed has been quite a challenge for most of us especially in adjusting to the new norms at work and home. The answer to keeping positive during these challenging times could lie in incorporating mindfulness in your daily routine.

What is mindfulness? Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us (mindful.org). Mindfulness sessions allow us to let go of unnecessary thoughts such as negative emotions. Realising that emotions are temporary and not permanent helps take away the stress.

Leaders benefit from practicing mindfulness in reducing stress and enhancing performance while gaining insights and awareness through paying attention to our own thoughts.
