Jia Yaw is a sustainable development lawyer.

He works on systemic change, institutional reforms and organisational transformation. He advises policymakers and leaders of businesses, non-profits and government bodies on a wide array of issues related to sustainable development.

Jia Yaw is the Co-Chair of the Malaysian CSO-SDG Alliance, a national network of more than 80 organisations committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Member organisations work across various themes and include UNGC (UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei), WWF Malaysia, NCWO (National Council of Women’s Organisations), ABIM (Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia) and the Malaysian Youth Council. The Alliance is a partner to the Government of Malaysia with regard to the SDGs. It is presently working with the Ministry of Economy in its development of the Malaysian SDG Roadmap (Phase II) and mid-term review of the 12th Malaysian Plan in relation to ESG.

Jia Yaw is a resource person of the All-Party Parliamentary Group of Malaysia on the Sustainable Development Goals (APPGM-SDG), which works with more than 84 parliamentarians across the political divide, with more than 253 SDG-related projects throughout the nation.

He also serves on the Bar Council Environment and Climate Change Committee and the ESG Committee of the KLSCCCI (Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry).
