"The 19th century belonged to England, the 20th century belonged to the U.S., and the 21st century belongs to China. Invest accordingly." - Warren Buffett
After the remarkable of outperformance in 2017, 2018 could mark another strong year for Chinese equities, supported by stable macroeconomic data, upward earnings revisions and reasonale valuations. With the Chinese government shifting its focus from specific growth targets to enhancing the quality of growth and attaining balanced development, China’s economic growth is expected to moderate slightly in the coming years as the economy rebalances away from investment and external demand towards domestic consumption. Now could be the time to capture the best opportunities and add value for investors.
The introduction of the ASEAN Exchanges collaboration in 2011 has ensured a more convenient route to investing in ASEAN countries and allowed investors to take advantage of the booming regional economies. This, together with initiatives under the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) such as the ASEAN Collective Investment Scheme (CIS) framework, has increased the attractiveness of ASEAN to both local and foreign investors.
This programme provides capital market professionals and investors with the latest updates on the dynamics of ASEAN and China markets and the range of investment opportunities available to local investors. Current trends will be laid out along with challenges apparent with cross border investments, followed by what to expect in 2018.
