SIDC, ICAEW and CICA collaborate to offer corporate finance programme

First outside of the UK and Canada to provide the prestigious CF Qualification training

Kuala Lumpur, 22 April 2008 – The Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC) today announced a collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA). The SIDC will become the first Corporate Finance Qualification (CF) programme provider outside the United Kingdom and Canada.

The CF qualification, jointly developed by the ICAEW and the CICA, is fast becoming recognised as the benchmark of success in the field of corporate finance. The programme combines comprehensive technical knowledge and skills with practical application and high level strategy to help corporate finance professionals accelerate professional development.

Speaking at the launch, CEO of SIDC, John Zinkin said, “I am pleased that SIDC, which has just celebrated its first anniversary, will be working with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) – one of the oldest professional accountancy bodies with over 132,000 members in more than 160 countries and with CICA, Canada’s premier accounting body, recognized internationally for its high quality education programs.

“This is another step for the SIDC towards being internationally recognised as the leading Asian training and development provider for capital markets.

“The Corporate Finance qualification is important, because offers a stimulating and challenging learning experience that provides the accelerated development and immediately demonstrable skills required by this fast-moving industry,” added Zinkin.
Dr. Raymond Madden, Executive Director, Learning & Professional Development, ICAEW, said, “The unique collaboration between SIDC, ICAEW and CICA provides the Malaysia market with an important strategic alliance allowing programme participants to draw on the wealth of thought leadership in corporate finance available from both ICAEW and CICA.

“The Certificate stage focuses on local Malaysian regulatory requirements and the ethical foundations of corporate finance,” added Madden. “The Diploma stage delivers the core technical and analytical skills whilst the Advanced Diploma incorporates high level corporate finance strategy building on the lead coordination practices and techniques.”

Tim Forristal, Vice President Education, CICA, said, “This prestigious qualification is recognised throughout the world. Successful completion of its graduated process allows members to use the designatory letters ‘CF’”. There are currently more than 1,000 CFs across 50 countries worldwide.”
The CF qualification is open to all aspiring, established and ambitious corporate finance professionals, irrespective of the professional qualifications and memberships they may currently hold.

Participants are welcome from all sectors of the corporate finance industry. Recent participants have come from a variety of backgrounds including banking, accountancy, law, private equity and consulting.
